Upon arrival in Santiago you will be transported to your selected hotel. In the afternoon we will show you Santiago de Chile. In the historic Centre, you will visit the presidential palace, once the national mint, and hence named La Moneda. Additional sights are around the historic main square, the Plaza de Armas, with its cathedral and the beautiful old post office; the Palacio de la Real Audiencia, now home to the National History Museum; and the Casa Colonial, which was once the governor’s residence during the colonial era. The best views of Santiago and the Andes can be enjoyed from the summit of Cerro San Cristóbal, where a large statue of the Virgin Mary overlooks the capital. The hill is part of the Parque Metropolitano – the city’s largest municipal park – where many Santiaguinos spend the weekends practicing sports or enjoying a BBQ. After visiting the Cerro San Cristóbal, the tour continues through Providencia, one of the capital’s exclusive districts, with attractive shops, good restaurants and modern high-rise buildings. Return to the hotel. Night in Santiago.

Breakfast. At the appropriate time you will be taken to the airport to take your flight to Easter Island via Santiago. Upon arrival you will be received and taken to your hotel. Night in Easter Island.

Breakfast. Half-day private excursion to: The ceremonial site of Orongo with its small stone houses, which lies right by the crater of the Ranu Kau volcano. The crater’s edge is 324m/1,063ft high and the crater itself has a diameter of 1.5km/1mi. The summit offers a spectacular view over the sea and the three motus. These small islands were the destination for the chosen young men during the Birdman Cult activities that took place at Orongo. One man per clan was sent to swim and climb the motus to steal the first tern’s egg of the year. The chief of the victorious clan then became king of all Rapa Nui for one year. Night in Rapa Nui.

Breakfast. The Moai workshop is probably the most interesting sight on Easter Island and lies by the Ranu Raraku volcano. It is here, in the quarry that the moais were carved from the massive rock. The hillsides of the volcano are still littered with these giant figures, ready for transportation that never happened. Higher up the volcano, more moais can be found in various stages of completion, some still connected to the rock, as if work on them was abandoned suddenly. Ascending to the edge of the crater is worthwhile, because there are more moais to be seen lying inside of it and the view across the crater lake is beautiful, especially at sunset. Not far from the volcano lies the Ahu Tongariki, which is possibly the most beautiful of all the ahus. 15 restored moai stand upright here and gaze across their island with the Pacific Ocean behind them. Anakena beach where King Hotu Matua came ashore with the first settlers lies at the northern end of Easter Island. The sand is white and coconut palms planted there live up to every tourist’s vision of a tropical beach. Anakena is the only beach on the island suitable for swimming. No wonder the royal families lived here and only permitted other islanders to set foot on the beach during special occasions. A little further to the east of Anakena lies the Ahu Te Pito Kura. This is where the Te Pito Kura, (“The Red Navel“) is located: a large, round smooth stone that is said to have magic powers. According to legend, King Hotu Matua himself brought the stone with him. At a height of 10m/32ft, the tallest moai ever erected stands on the Ahu Te Pito Kura. Back to your hotel, night in Rapa Nui.

Breakfast, then a half-day private excursion to Ahu Akivi that is one of the few moais not located by the sea. Its seven resurrected moais are sited according to the equinox, which indicates the advanced knowledge of astronomy once known on Rapa Nui. You will visit one of the numerous caves on the island before continuing to Ahu Te Peu on the island’s east coast. This ahu has not been restored, and its moai have been lying scattered all over the ground, for centuries. They are a stone witness to the mysterious collapse of Moai Culture. Final destination of the day is the Puna Pau quarry, where the headdresses made of red stone that were set on many moai were produced. The tour ends with your transport back to the hotel. Breakfast. Depart from Santiago driving south (about 2, 5 hours) to Colchagua Wine Valley, awarded as Best World Wine Region 2005 by Wine Enthusiast Magazine. There are more than 27 wineries producing in this region, famous for its Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Carmènere wines. The tour visits two wineries (names to be confirmed) visiting its facilities and vineyards and learning about the wine making process ending each visit with 2 Reserve wine tasting. After having lunch in a typical local restaurant, the excursion continues with a visit to the Colchagua Museum. This private museum, founded in 1995, has an extensive display of Paleontology, Archaeology, Pre Columbian art, and the history of Chile and America, making it the largest, most varied and diverse museum in Latin America. Return to Santiago.

You will also have a visit to Emiliana Orgánico, Chile’s first organic and biodynamic vineyard. Biodynamic refers to a type of holistic agriculture where the natural cycles of the earth respected to maintain the ecosystem. During the guided tour, visitors learn about the workings of an organic and biodynamic vineyard, as well as about the philosophy behind it – that good results can only be achieved by conviction and dedication. Return to your hotel, night in Santiago.
