After arrival in Quito, you will be transported to your hotel. First night in Quito.

Breakfast. City tour: The interesting and renovated city tour starts with a visit of the Itchimbia neighborhood, which is a place that offers a spectacular view of the old and new city. Then you will visit the old colonial Quito starting in Santo Domingo Plaza walking through one of the oldest streets in the town “La Ronda Street” where you will see how the colonial houses were built and how the Quiteños lived in the 1600s. Your walk takes you through the city museum to San Francisco Plaza, making a quick stop to try the typical sweets of Quito. San Francisco is the oldest church in Quito and it is full of history and legends.
Next, you will visit the La Merced church to see its arabesque and baroque style decorations. Finally, you will go to the main square where the Presidential Palace, the main cathedral and some other important buildings can be appreciated. The last stop before your guide takes you to the Equator is the La Compañía de Jesus church, which is one of the most beautiful churches in South America or perhaps the world. Once you reach the equator, you will visit a very interesting museum, INTI NAN, here you will learn about the different cultures that we have in Ecuador and some of the facts about the country.
Return to the hotel in the afternoon. Night in Quito.

Just an hour and a half north of Quito is the lush volcanic highlands. This land is rich in friendly and colorfully attired indigenous people, historic working haciendas, and towering volcanoes with verdant slopes. Our destination is the Otavalo Indian craft market. As we pass into the highlands, we’re treated to a sweeping view of Imbabura and Cotacachi Volcanoes rising above San Pablo Lake. Our first stop is Calderon where they make bread dough figures as part of a big tradition of the country. Then it’s on to the Otavalo market, which dates back thousands of years and is famous throughout the Andes for its handicrafts, textiles and tapestries. Lunch will be served at one of the local haciendas with a typical Andean ambience. After lunch we’ll visit the village of Peguche where native weavers demonstrate their craft, as they have for centuries. Return to your hotel in the late afternoon. Night in Quito.

We depart from the Chimbacalle train station in Quito at 8:00 am on board the Tren Crucero. Our next stop that will be the station located in El Boliche Recreational Area where we disembark from the train and take the bus to the Cotopaxi National Park. There we will take a short hike in the slopes of the volcano to enjoy the landscapes, the flora and fauna. Then we continue our trip and visiting hacienda San Agustín del Callo where we will have a delicious lunch. In the afternoon we go to the train station in Lasso to be part of a traditional festivities. Today’s accommodation and dinner will be at La Cienega, a colonial hacienda full of history and charm. Lunch and Dinner included.

After breakfast we will go by bus to Latacunga train station to board the train and continue our journey to the south. On the way we will stop to visit a rose plantation, where we can learn about the growing, harvesting and post-harvest processes of the roses. Next, we continue on the train to the city of Ambato where we will enjoy lunch at the hotel Roka Plaza, located in a patrimonial house. After lunch we continue on board the train to the Urbina station which is located at 11,840 feet above sea level (3,609 m.), being the highest train station in the country, here we visit the Interpretation Center or the Ice Men and enjoy the beauty of the landscape at the slopes of Chimborazo, the highest volcano in Ecuador.
After this visit we will go by bus to hostería Abraspungo where we will have dinner and we will spend the night. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner provided.

Early in the morning we leave the hotel to go to the Riobamba train station, here we will take the train with the steam locomotive and will continue to Colta to visit the Balbanera church, which is known as the first church built in Ecuador. Then we continue our journey by train to Guamote, where we will visit the main attractions of the city and the indigenous market, which is one of the largest and most important in the country. After this visit we will have lunch at the train station. In the afternoon we will go to the train station in Alausí and after a short stop we will continue our journey through the Devil

After breakfast, we will take a short walk in the forest near to the hotel, where we can appreciate some of the flora and fauna typical of the coast and we will also visit some of the plantations of the coastal region. Then we will go to the Shuar community, which despite migrate many years ago from the Amazon to the Coast, they keep their customs and traditions. After these visits, we will go to the ranch San Rafael for lunch; afterwards we will board the train to go to the Durán train station. On the way we will pass through typical coast plantations such as bananas, sugarcane, rice, and we will travel with the steam locomotive.
We end our four days journey with a transfer to your hotel in Guayaquil. Night in Guayaquil.

After breakfast at your hotel transfer to the airport for your flight to Galapagos Island. Once in Galapagos Islands you will meet your local guide/naturalist from the Galapagos Luxury Catamaran CORMORANT.
