Breakfast. City tour: The interesting and renovated city tour starts with a visit of the Itchimbia neighborhood, which is a place that offers a spectacular view of the old and new city. Then you will visit the old colonial Quito starting in Santo Domingo Plaza walking through one of the oldest streets in the town “La Ronda Street” where you will see how the colonial houses were built and how the Quiteños lived in the 1600s. Your walk takes you through the city museum to San Francisco Plaza, making a quick stop to try the typical sweets of Quito. San Francisco is the oldest church in Quito and it is full of history and legends.
Next, you will visit the La Merced church to see its arabesque and baroque style decorations. Finally, you will go to the main square where the Presidential Palace, the main cathedral and some other important buildings can be appreciated. The last stop before your guide takes you to the Equator is the La Compañía de Jesus church, which is one of the most beautiful churches in South America or perhaps the world. Once you reach the equator, you will visit a very interesting museum, INTI NAN, here you will learn about the different cultures that we have in Ecuador and some of the facts about the country.
Return to the hotel in the afternoon. Night in Quito.

After breakfast at your hotel transfer to the airport for your flight to Galapagos Island. Once there, transfer to the seaport to board the Galapagos Legend Cruise. This legendary, 100-passenger, deluxe-class vessel offers all the amenities of a large cruise liner without sacrificing the intimacy you would expect on a small sailing craft, and consequently allows you to have it all. All of the cabins and suites (many are interconnected) are outfitted with the following amenities: air-conditioning, wardrobes and private facilities offering showers, hot and cold water, hair dryer, safe deposit boxes, and other amenities. Our itinerary together begins on San Cristóbal Island, the capital of the Galápagos Province. From here, we venture east along the northern shores of the island, visiting the fascinating sites of Punta Pitt and Cerro Brujo, both full of life, taking us back to Charles Darwin’s visit of 1835. We then sail south down to Española Island, with its remarkable visitor site (a favorite of many visitors): Punta Suárez. Here, we’ll wander along the rugged coastline, home to hundreds of marine iguanas, sea lions, marine birds, and even albatross (at certain times of year). In the afternoon, Gardner Bay provides a wonderful setting for a combination of beach-time, swimming snorkeling or exploring aboard the glass-bottom boat. We end on Monday with a visit to the world-famous Charles Darwin Research Station on Santa Cruz Island, the most populous in the archipelago.

After the morning activity you will be transported to the airport for your flight to Coca with connection in Quito. After landing, a 5 min trip from the airport to Port Francisco de Orellana will take you to a comfortable covered motorboat. Here you start a boat ride along the Napo River, about 2 hours, enjoying a boxed lunch en route. Along the way birds such as herons, kingfishers and others can be spotted. After arriving at NWC’s entry dock we disembark for a restroom pause then take a majestic and peaceful 1 to 2 hour dugout canoe ride surrounded by trees overhead, paddling along a narrow creek that connects to the lake where the lodge is located. Good possibilities of monkey sightings of various species as well as large birds like toucans, parrots or even macaws. Late afternoon arrival at the lodge. Night in lodge.

Early wake up to reach the best and easiest access to parrot clay licks in Ecuador, about 1 hour away from the Lodge. Guests will get there just before parrot activity kicks off at the clay lick between 7:30 to 8:30. A total of 11 species of parrots, parakeets and macaws can be seen. This is a visit that depends on weather conditions, but usually is successful. Later, we will hike along forest trail to visit to the Kichwa community of Añangu and share time with a local family during their activities and learn about their culture and way of life. Return to the creek and hike through a Terra Firme Forest for about 30 minutes until we arrive at the second parrot clay lick. Lunch box served at the parrot clay lick observatory. Late afternoon arrival at the lodge. Night in the lodge.

After breakfast at the welcome area, you’ll walk along the path next to the Napo River, for a new excursion into the Amazon. You’ll have the chance to spot various animal species. Plus, your guide will show you different species of plants and will explain their use in ancestral medicine. You’ll visit the local school and the communal areas, and learn how their community has developed during the past years, improving education and health. After lunch (brought from the hotel), you’ll walk on a new trail that leads to the Añangu lagoon. During this walk you’ll get to know more about the flora of the zone, which is not only used for medicine but also for daily living. Arrive at the hotel late in the afternoon, for a well-deserved rest and dinner. Night in lodge.

Early departure and last excursion canoeing back to the Napo River; the creek may reveal new sights of Giant otters, Saki monkeys or many other rare birds. At the docking area we may use restrooms, and then embark on a motorized canoe to go back to Coca, an approximately 2 hour boat ride up river in order to check in for your flight to Quito. Once there you will be transported to your hotel. Night in Quito.
